SUMMITCARE PENRITH REDEVELOPMENT - ABORIGINAL REGISTRATION FOR COMMUNITY CONSULTATION

30/4/2024

On behalf of Centurion Project Management (Nick Winberg, nick.winberg@centuriongroup.com.au, the Proponent), GML Heritage (GML) seeks registration from local Aboriginal groups and people with respect to conducting an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment Report (ACHAR) for SummitCare Penrith at 366 Jamison Road, Jamisontown, a State Significant Development (SSD), to comply with the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs).

The land subject to SSD approval is located in Jamisontown, within the City of Penrith LGA. The study area is marked on the map below and covers Lot 10/DP804382.

The proposed development involves the construction of three Independent Living Apartment Buildings, a Residential Aged Care building and an integrated administrative and communal facility.

The purpose of community consultation with Aboriginal people is to assist Centurion Project Management in the preparation of an ACHAR and to meet the requirements of the project SEARs.

In accordance with the DECCW’s Aboriginal cultural heritage consultation requirements for proponents 2010, GML is required to compile a list of Aboriginal people who may have an interest in the proposed project area and hold knowledge relevant to determining cultural significance of Aboriginal objects and/or places.

GML invite local Aboriginal people who hold cultural knowledge relevant to determining the significance of Aboriginal object(s) and/or place(s) in the study area to register an interest in community consultation regarding the proposed activity. If you wish to register, please provide in writing (a letter or email) a brief statement clarifying that you wish to be involved in future Aboriginal community consultation and how you will assist with the assessment of cultural significance associated with the subject land.

All registrations should be received by GML at ach@gml.com.au no later than 14 May 2024.

Alternatively, registrations can be posted to:
