Toowoomba Regional Council - PUBLIC NOTICE
Local Government Act 2009
1. Toowoomba Regional Council (“Council”) has proposed to make Subordinate Local Law No. 1.15
(Carrying Out Works on a Road or Interfering with a Road or its Operation) 2024 (the “proposed
subordinate local law”).
2. Local Law No. 1 (Administration) 2020 authorises the making of the proposed subordinate local law.
3. The proposed subordinate local law repeals Subordinate Local Law No. 1.15 (Carrying Out Works on
a Road or Interfering with a Road or its Operation) 2020.
4. The purpose and general effect of the proposed subordinate local law is to—
(a) regulate the undertaking of a prescribed activity, and in particular, carrying out works on a road
or interfering with a road or its operation, under Local Government Act 2009, section 75; and
(b) prescribe documents and materials that must accompany an application for approval for the
prescribed activity; and
(c) prescribe criteria that must be satisfied about the undertaking of the prescribed activity prior to
the grant of an approval for the prescribed activity; and
(d) prescribe conditions that will ordinarily be imposed on an approval for the prescribed activity.
5. Written submissions by any person in support of, or objecting to, the proposed subordinate local
law, are invited for a 45 day period commencing on 21 December 2024 and ending on 5 February
2025 (the “consultation period”).
6. During the consultation period, Council will make available for inspection and purchase copies of
the proposed subordinate local law at Council’s public office at:

· 32 O’Brien Road, Highfields

7. Submissions must be received on or before 5 February 2025 stating—
(a) the grounds of the submission; and
(b) the facts and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds.
