The upgrade comprises the removal of all Telstra equipment from the existing 25m-tall monopole and the installation of Telstra antenna mounts on the new 30m-tall steel monopole at a height of 25 metres.
Three (3) new panel antennas (each less than 2.8m in length) and three (3) new panel antennas (each less than 1m in length) will then be installed on the new mounts.
Installation and replacement of ancillary equipment such as remote radio units, filters combiners, mounts, cable trays, and cables will also occur and there will be internal works in the existing Telstra equipment shelter, which will remain in its current position.
The proposed upgrade will improve existing 4G services from the facility and introduce 5G services to the surrounding area.
The 25m-tall monopole will be removed by others.
Telstra regards the proposed upgrade works as ‘low-impact’ pursuant to the Telecommunications (Low-Impact Facilities) Determination 2018 based on the description above.
