The Barwon Water Region Water Corporation (Barwon Water) has prepared Amendment C464ggee to the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme.
The amendment applies to land affected by the Significant Landscape Overlay Schedule 16 (SLO16) Rivers of the Barwon: Barwon River (Parwan) Corridor Environs which generally extends along the Barwon River between Ceres and Ocean Grove.
The amendment proposes to amend Section 3.0 of Schedule 16 of the Significant Landscape Overlay (SLO16) at Clause 42.03 to introduce a planning permit exemption for the removal, destruction or lopping of native vegetation consistent with ‘Conservation work to improve biodiversity, undertaken with the written agreement of the Secretary as constituted under Part 2 of the Conservation, Forest and Lands Act 1987’.

Any person who may be affected by the amendment may make a submission to the planning authority about the amendment. Submissions must be made in writing giving the submitter’s name and contact address, clearly stating the grounds on which the amendment is supported or opposed and indicating what changes (if any) the submitter wishes to make.
Name and contact details of submitters are required for the planning authority to consider submissions and to notify such persons of any public hearing held to consider submissions. The closing date for submissions is 23 November 2023.
A submission must be clearly marked Amendment C464ggee (directed to the Strategic Projects Team) and sent to the Barwon Water Region Water Corporation 57-67 Ryrie Street, Geelong or via email to property@barwonwater.vic.gov.au
The planning authority must make a copy of every submission available at its office for any person to inspect free of charge for two months after the amendment comes into operation or lapses.
