M206-22 Sullivans Cove - Prohibited Area
Mariners are advised that fireworks will be deployed from a vessel in Sullivans Cove in approximate position Latitude 42° 53.083'S Longitude 147° 20.616'E as part of Dark Mofo. One shot is scheduled to be fired at approximately 2000 hours each night from Wednesday, 15 June 2022 until Sunday, 19 June 2022. There may be an additional firing on Monday, 20 June 2020.
A prohibited area has been declared within a 200-metre radius of the vessel during the deployment of the fireworks. An announcement will be made by Hobart VTS on VHF channel 12 declaring the prohibited area coming into effect 5 minutes prior to each firing. Vessels should delay exiting and entering Sullivans Cove during this period, and only the contracted service vessel is permitted to enter the prohibited area during this time.
Regulation 71 (3) of the Marine and Safety (Pilotage and Navigation) Regulations 2017 determines that MAST may declare a specified area surrounding any vessel navigating, moored or at anchor to be a prohibited area for other vessels or persons. A police officer may intercept and remove to a place of safety any vessel or person in a prohibited area.
