NOTICE OF INTENTION TO SEIZE AND REMOVE ABANDONED PROPERTY
Transport Operations (Marine Safety) Act 1994, section 175A(3)
Date of notice: 28 April 2025
I, Adam McGregor am appointed as a Shipping Inspector under part 13 of the Transport Operations (Marine Safety) Act 1994 (the Act).
(1) Description of abandoned property:
Blue timber dinghy approximately 3m in length with a beam of approximately 1.5m. The ship is in poor condition, flooded with water and has timber rot in the gunwale area.
Where and when abandoned property was found:
The ship was located on the southern shoreline of the Noosa River, Noosaville on 28 March 2025.
The ship coordinates are: -26.397194°S 153.052681°E
I reasonably believe that the ship is abandoned property.
When abandoned property may be seized and removed:
If the property described above is not claimed by 30 May 2025, it may be seized and removed.
(2) Description of abandoned property:
Rigid hull inflatable dinghy approximately 3m in length with a beam of approximately 1.5m.
The ship is in poor condition and found to be deflated.
Where and when abandoned property was found:
The ship was located on the southern shoreline of Goat Island (Noosa River), Noosaville on 22 April 2025.
The ship coordinates were: -26.294379°S 153.045370°E
I reasonably believe that the ship is abandoned property.
When abandoned property may be seized and removed:
The property described above has been removed from Queensland Waters and is being held at the Mooloolaba Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) Base. If the property described above is not claimed by 30 May 2025, it may be seized and removed.
Statement for the purposes of section 175A(5) of the Act:
If no one claims the property within the time stated above and I seize and remove it, I may, having regard to the value and condition of the property and without further notice–
(a) sell the property by public auction; or
(b) destroy it.
If you wish to assert ownership in the property described above, you must attend in person the Noosa MSQ office at Shop 4, 2 Parkyn Ct Tewantin QLD 4565 in the State of Queensland before 4pm on 30 May 2025.
