MEETINGS NOTICE - MITAKOODI AND MAYI PEOPLE #5 NATIVE TITLE CLAIM GROUP (QUD556/2015)

Mitakoodi and Mayi People #5 claim group members – being Aboriginal people who principally identify as Mitakoodi and Mayi People and as belonging to the traditional country of their Mitakoodi and Mayi forebears; are recognised by other Mitakoodi and Mayi People as the biological descendants of deceased Mitakoodi and Mayi People; and are descendants of the following deceased Aboriginal People: Minnie; Thomas 'Tiger' Mitchell; Dinah; Topsy; Sophie; and Billy Chisholm – are invited to attend the following meetings regarding the proposed Mitakoodi and Mayi People #5 Part A Native Title Consent Determination.

NATIVE TITLE ABORIGINAL CORPORATION PRE-INCORPORATION MEETING
SATURDAY, 8 JUNE 2024

The purpose of this meeting is to consider the establishment of an Aboriginal corporation (under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006) to be the Mitakoodi and Mayi People’s native title prescribed body corporate and to make decisions about: the initial members, the proposed Rule Book, director nominations, the contact person and applying for registration of the Corporation.

PART A NATIVE TITLE CONSENT DETERMINATION AUTHORISATION MEETING &
STATE TENURE ILUA AUTHORISATION MEETING
SUNDAY, 9 JUNE 2024

The purpose of this meeting is to consider the proposed Mitakoodi and Mayi People #5 Part A Native Title Act 1993 section 87 Agreement and Consent Determination and the proposed Tenure Resolution ILUA with the State and to make decisions about:

1. Authorisation of the Mitakoodi and Mayi People #5 Part A native title consent determination.
2. Whether native title will be held on trust and nomination of a native title Aboriginal corporation to represent the Mitakoodi and Mayi People.
3. Authorisation of the proposed Tenure Resolution ILUA with the State of Queensland.

MEETING DETAILS

DATES: 8 and 9 June 2024.

TIME: Registration from 9:00am each day, for a 10:30am start and 4:30pm finish.

VENUE: Cloncurry Community Precinct, 37 Scarr Street, Cloncurry, QLD.

Note: In-person attendance is required to attend these meetings. Remote meeting attendance by video or telephone is not available.

A return bus between Townsville and Cloncurry will be arranged. Please contact MPS Law to register your interest.

INFORMATION MEETINGS: Information meetings will also be held on Friday, 7 June 2024.
The Mayi session will be from 9:30am-12:30pm and the Mitakoodi session from 2:00pm-5:00pm.
