WHY IS THERE A MEETING?

This meeting is being called to make very important decisions about bringing a Gia and Ngaro People’s native title claim.

The proposed claim area is shown on the map in this notice.

The proposed members of the native title claim group are the descendants (including through customary adoption) of the following Gia and Ngaro Ancestors (Gia and Ngaro Ancestors):

• Maude (aka Maude King)
• Nellie mother of George Wake
• Jim Bowen
• Nellie partner of Jim Bowen
• Mary of Bowen
• Maggie of Proserpine
• Yellow Boy
• Rosie partner of Yellow Boy
• Nellie mother of Billy Lightning
• Maggie of Pretty Bend
• Father of Herbert Emmerson
If it is agreed to bring a claim the meeting will also authorise persons to bring the claim on behalf of the native title claim group.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE MEETING?

All Aboriginal people who are descendants of the Gia and Ngaro Ancestors described in this notice or who hold native title rights under Gia and Ngaro traditional laws and customs in the proposed claim area are strongly encouraged to attend the meeting.

Attendance will be in person. Those attending in person will be entitled to participate in any decision-making.
