DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM AND SPORT NOTICE ABOUT 2024 NTI TOWNSVILLE 500 TEMPORARY WORKS AND UNATTENDED VEHICLES ON PUBLIC LAND
I, Michael Healy, Minister for Tourism and Sport give notice that for the periods from Monday 10 June 2024 to midday Thursday 4 July 2024; and from midday Monday 8 July 2024 to midnight on Saturday 20 July 2024, the major event organiser for the 2024 NTI Townsville 500 (V8 Supercars Australia Pty Ltd ACN 077 053 484) intends to exercise its powers under section 16 of the Major Events Act 2014 to carry out and maintain temporary works and carry out incidental activities on public land inside the areas surrounding Townsville Civic Theatre as shown on the map prescribed under Schedule
1 of the Major Events (Motor Racing Events) Regulation 2015. To enable temporary works and maintenance to be carried out during the stated periods, vehicles left unattended on public land as shown on the prescribed map may be moved and dealt with in accordance with the Major Events Act 2014 (including moving and storing vehicles at owners’ expense).
