Draft Municipal Plan and Long Term Financial Plan
In accordance with the Local Government Act 2019 Section 35 (3) (C) Litchfield Council’s Draft Municipal Plan 2024/25 (Plan), together with Council’s Long Term Financial Plan 2024/25 to 2033/34 (LTFP), is available for public review and comment for a period of 35 days, from 22 April to 26 May 2024.
The Plan and LTFP are available online at https://www.litchfield.nt.gov.au and in hard copy at Council’s Office.
The Plan includes a proposal to impose special rates under section 238 of the Local Government Act 2019 (the Act):
a) In the form of a road seal levy to defray the cost and expense of Council sealing sections of roads being Aldridge, Ridgewood, Austin, Collett and Riverside Streets in Townsite of Southport as shown on the plan attached. These works were completed in 2023 and 2024.
b) The total amount that is proposed to be raised by the special rate is $400,511.
c) The proposed special rate will be a fixed amount of $5,641 imposed on each allotment within that part of the council area adjoining the roads as sealed and as marked on the plan referred to in paragraph (a) above and being the allotments more particularly described below. It is proposed that the special rate will be payable on or before 30 June 2026.
d) A person may make submissions to the Council about the proposed special rate by 6pm Sunday 26 May 2024, submissions will be presented to the meeting of Council to be held on 18 June 2024 to consider the imposition of the special rate.
e) A person can obtain further information about the proposed special rates from the Council.
