The Mining and Energy Division of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMMEU) is in the process of withdrawing from its amalgamation with the CFMMEU and has applied pursuant to s 109 of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 (Cth) to the Federal Court of Australia in proceeding number NSD 1120/2023 for an order that it be registered as a new and separate union called the Mining and Energy Union (MEU) on 1 December 2023.
As part of the court process, the Court has been asked to make orders by which the MEU will take over all liabilities and responsibilities of the CFMMEU Mining and Energy Division.
The Court is required to take into account the interests of creditors who may be affected by the proposed orders. If you are a creditor who may be affected by the proposed orders and you consent to the orders, you are requested to email your consent to info@meu.org.au by 5.00pm on Wednesday 15 November 2023.
If you wish to make any submission to the Court about the orders, the case is listed for hearing at 10.15am on 20 November 2023 at the Federal Court in Sydney, and you are free to attend.
