28-34 Victoria Street, 17 and 21 George Street, Burwood, NSW

VSD Investments (the proponent) proposes to undertake an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment to support a State Significant Development (SSD) Application for development at 28-34 Victoria Street, 17 and 21 George Street, Burwood NSW within the Burwood Local Government Area. The SSD application includes proposed new structure for 21 George St and the following modifications to existing approved developments:

• 28-34 Victoria St: The addition of 10 extra floors for

a total of 40 storeys and 252 apartments and 5

basement levels, instead of the originally approved

4.5 basement levels.

• 17 George St: 2 extra floors on top of the existing

structure for total of 26 storeys and 53 apartments

and 5 basement levels.

• 21 George St: New building sought for approval comprising 31-storey structure with 75 apartments designated as affordable housing, 4 levels of commercial/retail space and 5 basement levels.

• Ancillary infrastructure and works.

The proposed activity and may impact Aboriginal objects if present. VSD Investments wishes to invite Aboriginal people and Aboriginal groups who hold cultural knowledge relevant to determining the significance of Aboriginal objects and places within the project area to register in a process of community consultation regarding the proposed activity. The consultation will be undertaken in accordance with Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Consultation Requirements for Proponents 2010 (DECCW 2010) and the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements for the Application. The purpose of community consultation with Aboriginal people is to assist the proposed applicant in the preparation of the ACHA and the SSD Application and to assist the Minister for Planning in their consideration and determination of the application.
