Artefact Heritage and Environment (Artefact), on behalf of Coronation Property (the Proponent), is undertaking an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment (ACHAR) for the property known as 57-61 Archer Street and 34 Albert Avenue, Chatswood, NSW. The proposal comprises a Development Application for an affordable housing development of the Study Area to provide for a 25-storey residential complex. The key aspects of the proposal encompass demolition of certain existing buildings and subsequent construction of a 32-storey building of circa 160 apartments. Note: The building at 34 Albert Avenue is heritage listed and will not be impacted by the proposal.

The proposed development is located within the Willoughby Local Government Area (LGA) and within the boundaries of the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC).

The project is seeking Development Consent under Division 4.7 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 as a State Significant Development. The Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) have not yet been issued for the project but are expected to include the requirement for an ACHAR to inform an Environmental Impact Statement.
