2nd NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR PERMANENT VARIATION TO LICENCE

Nguiu Club Aboriginal Corporation hereby gives notice it has applied to the Director of Liquor Licensing for a permanent variation to the Liquor Licence “AUTHORITY – TAVERN”, number 8030... for premises known as Nguiu Club, Bathurst Island, Via Darwin NT.

PROPOSAL

The applicant is applying to permanently change their trading hours, to include trading on Tiwi Island Grand Final Day annually, this event occurs every second Sunday in March.

• Current licence hours:

Trading hours for Nguiu Club shall be between:
Tuesday 16:30 and Tuesday 19:30
Wednesday 16:30 and Wednesday 19:30
Friday 16:30 and Friday 19:30
Saturday 16:30 and Saturday 19:30

• Proposed new licence hours and condition to include:

Sunday 16:30 and Sunday 19:30 Annually on the second Sunday in March or any date that the match is re-scheduled. In the case of a time delay during the match, liquor trading cannot commence until the sounding of the final siren or 16:30, whichever is the latest

This is the second notice of application.

The objection period is deemed to commence from 12 February 2020 for a period of 28 days after the publication of this last notice of the application, that being until close of business 10 March 2020.

Pursuant to Section 61(2) of the Liquor Act 2019 an objection may only be made on the ground that the application would adversely affect:

• the amenity of the neighbourhood of the licensed premises or proposed licensed premises; or
• the health, education, public safety or social conditions in the community of the licensed premises or proposed licensed premises.
• that the applicant is not a fit and proper person.

Only those persons, organisations or groups described in Section 61(4) of the Liquor Act 2019 may make an objection. Section 62 of the Liquor Act 2019 requires the Director of Liquor Licensing to inform the applicant of the substance of any objection. This will include the identity and where relevant the address of the objector.
