The Tasmanian Aboriginal Legal Service (TALS) have a number of exciting opportunities to join our team!
TALS was established on 1 July 2020, marking the return of ownership of Tasmanian Aboriginal legal services to our communities and state. TALS specialises in criminal, civil and family law.
We are recruiting for the following roles:
Senior Criminal Lawyer (Indictable Crime)
This is a challenging new specialist role for TALS that will be based in the Hobart TALS office, focused on representation of clients of TALS in indictable crime matters before the Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeal. This role will also lead and mentor practitioners across the TALS team.
This role will provide high quality secretarial and administrative services to TALS legal staff in the Hobart TALS office.
Client Services Officer (multiple positions)
Pending application with EEO Tasmania, these roles are only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
The Client Services Officer is a crucial role for TALS that acts as a liaison between TALS and the Aboriginal communities of Tasmania. The role will facilitate eligibility requirements for service and importantly develop and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal organisations across Tasmania.
