About the position

You will be responsible for providing direction and onsite supervision to a small team in the performance of construction and maintenance activities for the Toowoomba Regional area. This will extend to the general involvement in the selection and application of appropriate skills to suit the varying demands of work within the team.

  • The base rate for this position is $2,259.24 gross per fortnight, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
  • This is a permanent full-time position based at the Pittsworth Depot.
  • This position participates in a nine (9) day fortnight working arrangement.

About the team

The Construction and Maintenance South Branch forms part of the Infrastructure Services Group (ISG) and is responsible for developing and maintaining community infrastructure including stormwater drainage/culverts, footpath/cycleway and road and bridge infrastructure assets.

  • The primary service objective is to ensure the abovementioned asset classes are developed and maintained in a coordinated and integrated manner.
  • The Construction & Maintenance South Branch plays a crucial role in driving capital and operational works projects across the Darling Downs.

How to be successful in this position - Success Criteria

Hold the mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the 'Success Criteria' in the Position Description .

  • WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent.
  • Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) Licence.
  • Current unrestricted ‘MR’ Class Driver’s Licence, or if not held, must be obtained within six (6) months of commencement.
  • Experience in a civil construction or maintenance environment.
  • Ability to supervise, train, mentor and develop employees.
  • Written and oral communication skills to clearly communicate and clarify agreed actions and outcomes.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of civil construction and maintenance activities, relevant policies, guidelines and legislation, and necessary safety precautions.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability and commitment to learn how to use Council’s mobility devices and software to complete and store records.
  • Understanding and commitment to Council’s Organisational Values and Behaviours in Respect.
