HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

Roper Gulf Regional Council is recruiting for our next Human Resources Manager. This role will be a 3 year, fixed term contract and will provide the following experience:

About the Council

Roper Gulf Regional Council is located in the south-east top end of the Northern Territory bounded by the southern Kakadu escarpments, the northern Barkly Tablelands, the Gulf of Carpentaria and the Queensland border. It covers 201,000 square kilometres and is home to approximately 7,000 people.

Based in Katherine and reporting to the General Manager Corporate Services and Sustainability, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing the overall workforce strategy with an emphasis on indigenous workforce initiatives, Industrial Relations (IR), systems/process improvement and long term strategic planning. You will be the first point of reference for all issues and queries across the broader HR spectrum including performance management, recruitment and retention, staff engagement, employee relations and all Fair Work based matters.

About You

Tertiary qualified in Human Resources or a related discipline, you will have a strong generalist HR background including broad experience across IR/ER, Workplace, Health and Safety, Indigenous Work Force Strategy and Strategic Planning with an excellent grasp of contemporary HR practices. A natural strategic thinker, you also understand the importance of ‘rolling up your sleeves’ and ensuring operational excellence. You will also be an active listener and keen to develop an empathy with and understanding of the unique Roper Gulf communities.

An attractive remuneration package of $160,000 plus awaits the right person. Relocation and subsidised housing is included along with six weeks annual leave.
