Applications are invited for the above position based in Hobart.

The duties of the position include: responding to constituent enquiries, liaising with Government departments and other organisations, preparing and coordinating correspondence, office administration tasks, researching and writing about complex and sensitive issues for a wide variety of audiences.

Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:

• An understanding of Australia’s system of government and parliamentary processes
• An understanding of current social policy issues and other issues facing our community
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
• Well developed office IT skills
• Demonstrated exceptional organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure, multi-task, prioritise tasks and problem solve to ensure deadlines are met.
• Professionalism and discretion in handling complex and sensitive matters involving a broad range of stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrated work ethic and ability to meet the demands and flexibility of an electorate office

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-2023.

A commencing salary between $67,880 and $79,251 will be paid and an additional allowance is payable in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.

A probationary period of 3 months will apply.

Employment is conditional on the granting of security clearance at the required level.
