The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is a new independent Statutory Authority established under the Great Ocean Road and Environs Protection Act 2020 and reports to the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change.
Effective 1 December 2020, the Authority will be a dedicated public land manager for coast and parks along the Great Ocean Road. Its role is essential to the governance reforms in the Government’s Great Ocean Road Action Plan.
The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority will be responsible for protecting the coast and parks, providing a positive visitor experience and sustainably managing key visitation areas and coastal assets.
An experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is required to provide visionary leadership and overarching direction to the management of the Great Ocean Road coast and parks.
Key roles for the CEO will be to lead the significant transformation of the organisation and foster a high performance culture consistent with the Authority’s vision, purpose and corporate values. Development and management of the annual budget and long-term financial plan, and accurate and timely reporting to the Board will be key requirements.
The CEO will also be responsible for the development and implementation of programs to deliver on the Board’s objectives.
Through partnership with Traditional Owners, the establishment of effective stakeholder relationships with Government Departments and Agencies and on-going involvement with the local communities, the CEO will provide regional leadership ensuring appropriate services are delivered.
To be considered for this opportunity you will be an experienced and ethical executive leader capable of establishing and leading the new Authority. With a sound working knowledge of coasts and parks or public land management and well versed in managing a dispersed workforce you will also have a strong track record of engaging with Traditional Owners, local communities and government. You will have demonstrated capability in managing people and performance and delivering on corporate and business plans and objectives. Relevant tertiary or post graduate qualifications are highly desirable.
