Key Responsibilities:
Menu Development and Resource Management:
Responsible for creating diverse and appealing menus, estimating both food and labor costs, and managing the procurement of necessary ingredients and supplies.
Quality Assurance:
Oversee the entire food preparation process, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation at every stage from initial preparation to final serving.
Collaboration with Key Personnel:
Engage in discussions with managers, dietitians, and both kitchen and waiting staff to address food preparation issues and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Culinary Skills Demonstration and Guidance:
Provide demonstrations on cooking techniques and offer expert advice on cooking procedures to maintain consistency and efficiency in food preparation.
Hands-on Food Preparation:
Actively participate in the preparation and cooking of food, ensuring dishes are cooked to perfection and meet quality expectations.
Hygiene and Safety Compliance:
Communicate and enforce hygiene and safety regulations to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, ensuring compliance with health standards.
Staff Recruitment and Training (if applicable):
May be involved in selecting, training, and mentoring kitchen staff to enhance their skills and improve kitchen productivity.
Food Preservation Management (if applicable):
May oversee the freezing, preservation, and storage of food to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
Qualifications:
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery/Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or equivalent.
Strong leadership and effective communication skills.
Proven ability to deliver high-quality food and service in a fast-pacedenvironment.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Chef in a high-volume kitchen.
