1st NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR GRANT OF LIQUOR LICENCE

Tennis NT Incorporated, hereby gives notice they have applied to the Director-General of Licensing for the grant of a Liquor Licence “AUTHORITY – ON LICENCE” for premises located at 9 Abala Road, Marrara NT.

CONCEPT

The Darwin International Tennis Centre will offer 16 tennis courts, spectator viewing areas on the show court, two separate bar service areas and function areas. It is proposed to operate in a similar manner as other sporting grounds in the immediate area and offer liquor to players and spectators either during or after their games and also during special events held at the premises, these may include live concerts and music events. The first floor function area will be available for use by Tennis NT and also for hire to host special events, corporate meetings and hire venue for third parties.

PROPOSED LIQUOR LICENCE AND CONDITIONS

Ground Floor Canteen

  • The proposed liquor trading hours will be 12:00 hours to 23:59 hours, 7 days a week including all public holidays
  • Sale and consumption of liquor will not be ancillary to a meal
  • Up to four (4) additional points of sale for liquor can be utilized for special events held at the premises provided that 5 days notice is provided to the Director-General of Licensing
  • The ground floor canteen liquor licensed area will include all 16 tennis courts, indoor and outdoor areas.
  • Takeaway conditions have not been applied for.

    First Floor Function Area
  • The proposed liquor trading hours will be 12:00 hours to 23:59 hours, 7 days a week including all public holidays
  • Sale and consumption of liquor will not be ancillary to a meal
  • Function area is not open to the general public for purchase of liquor during normal operations.
  • Takeaway conditions have not been applied for.



This is the first notice of application.

The notice will be published again on 17 August 2019.

The objection period is deemed to commence from 17 August 2019 for a period of 30 days after the publication of this last notice of the application, that being until close of business 16 September 2019.

Pursuant to Section 47F (2) of the Liquor Act an objection may only be made on the ground that the grant of the licence may or will adversely affect:

(a) the amenity of the neighbourhood where the premises the subject of the application are or will be located; or

(b) the health, education, public safety or social conditions in the community.

Only those persons, organisations or groups described in Section 47F (3) of the Liquor Act may make an objection. Section 47G of the Liquor Act requires the Director-General of Licensing to inform the applicant of the substance of any objection. This will include the identity and where relevant the address of the objector.
