Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s’ Healing Service
Purpose of position
The Position of Manager is to coordinate and manage the provision of a culturally appropriate, trauma-informed and healing focused service in response to women incarcerated and exiting Townsville Women’s Correctional Centre (TWCC). It is critical that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have access to culturally appropriate services that improve connection to family and culture to reduce the risk of re-offending.
Suitable advanced tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or a related field or extensive experience in working within a culturally sensitive environment. Mandatory:
1.Possess or eligible to hold a Working with Children (Bluecard)
2.Membership or eligibility for membership of the Australian Psychological Society or the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or other relevant professional board or association.
3.Appropriate qualifications in social work, counselling, psychology or mental health.
4.Extensive experience in working in the field of Mental Health
5.Experience in managing a team
6.Meet necessary background and security checks Highly Desirable:
•Experience in providing trauma informed interventions or an understanding of and experience in trans-generational trauma informed practice.
•Understanding of mandatory reporting obligations
•Experience in working with other government and non-government organisations
•Experience in providing formal and informal supervision to less experienced staff.
•Experience in evaluating psychological services and programs
